Our news for Marmomacc 2014

MGI - Marmi e Graniti d'Italia
Dear reader,
After the summer break we are back in full force and getting ready
for another edition of the Marmomacc in Verona (September 24th to the 27th). This
time MGI has a few surprises in store so I’m going to give you not one but
two reasons why you should come visit us (booth C6, inside Hall 9):

This year we had the honor of having international architect Craig Copeland
designing our booth; without spoiling the surprise, here is an idea of what
you’ll find from the architect’s own words: “Caldia Curve,
initiated in the spring of 2014 in collaboration with MGI, includes an expanding
series of formal examinations in stone panel shaping. From geometric plays in
relief and perforation, Caldia Curve seeks ways to combine contemporary computer
model based
designs with the latest technologies in stone fabrication”. At Marmomacc, MGI
will present the first in a series of these
panels, integrated within their exhibition
also designed by Copeland. The intent
is to use the same booth in the next few
years as an armature for showcasing
increasingly sophisticated forms and
fabrications of the Caldia Curve. In the
wait to see this innovative exhibition, I recommend you visit Craig Copeland’s
website to see more of his amazing work
with natural stone.

The Modigliani Competition has been quite an adventure and it’s finally (or should I say sadly)
come to its final chapter; after examining the revised projects of each finalist, our jurors selected
the winner, and believe me when I say it was a very hard choice, being all 3 such great designs.
The award ceremony will take place on Wednesday the 24th, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm, inside the Forum
Santamargherita (located in Hall 1); during
the event, I will first introduce the 3 finalist
projects and then reveal the name of the
winner, who will be invited on stage to
receive his award. After the ceremony, the architect will be a guest at our booth, where
he’ll be able to share insights and details
of his Modigliani fountain’s design. If you want
to know more about the competition or learn
the name of the jurors and the 3 finalists, you
can read my previous articles here, here and here.
