Occupying the entire block between 51st and 52nd St on the eastern side of 6th Ave, 1290 Avenue of the Americas is a 45 stories tower (43 office floors + 2 concourse levels) originally built in 1963 that contains over 2 million square feet of leasable space. In 2012 Vornado, owner of 1290 AoA, announced the beginning of the building’s renovation process, with MGI supplying the Caldia marble in cut to size panels of different thicknesses for the walls and floor of the entire lobby area, including the north and south corridors leading to the elevator cabs; a total of 3000 square meters of honed marble panels were installed.
